Here's the Mets (3-6) Line-up that will face RHP Chris Carpenter:
Jose Reyes, SS
Luis Castillo, 2B
David Wright, 3B
Jason Bay, LF
Mike Jacobs, 1B
Jeff Francoeur, RF
Rod Barajas, C
Gary Matthews Jr., CF
Oliver Perez, LHP
Scouting Report on C Carpenter: He's pretty darn good. Finished 2nd in Cy Young Voting last year (17-4, 1.01 WHIP, 2.24 ERA). He's 69-24 since joining the Cardinals in 2004. Smooth three-quarters arm action, and throws a 92-95 mph fastball. Jams lefties with a nasty cutter. Also throws two plus off-speed pitches: a tight curveball and a deceptive change-up. "When healthy" one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball (has had Tommy John Surgery, Labral repair, ulnar nerve transposition, among other DL stints). Has great control, barely walks anyone, and is a ground-ball machine.
Prediction: St. Louis wins 6-1.
P.S. Memo to Jerry Manuel: GET MIKE JACOBS OUT OF THE #5 SPOT IN THE LINE UP

Yeah, Carpenter is pretty darn good. But so is Santana and he had a bad day last week so anything can happen. I hope the Mets go there and sweep. Will Omar take that?
ReplyDelete1 out of 3. I usually don't get too fired up about stuff but that bugs me. "eh, I think we will lose today and tomorrow, why not, 1 of 3 ain't so bad"...
even in the song by meat loaf it is "2 out of 3 ain't bad"...
the kid "chicken" has it right, talk less..you have 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason
go, compete, and try to win. If it is good enough, sweet. If it isn't, work harder tomorrow. It's called battling! It's called pride. It's called stepping up if a few troops are injured. That's how it's done. I hope the players read that and are insulted because they should be.
