Mets look to win the series tonight as they face "Nemesis" Bronson Arroyo. Everyone thinks he owns the Mets (6-2 career record), but as I noted in the scouting report (click the link above), the Mets did score five runs off of him in his first start last year against them. Yes I know he did throw a complete game shutout versus them last July as well. Here is the line-up he will face:
J Reyes SS (Hitting righty again vs RHP)
A Pagan CF
D Wright 3B
I Davis 1B
J Bay lF
J Thole C
J Feliciano RF
A Cora 2B (appearing in his 48th game; 32 more and his $2 million option for next year is vested automatically)
J Niese P
My prediction: Niese neutralizes the big lefties (Votto; Bruce is sitting because Dusty Baker believes in small sample sizes and is sitting him vs a LHP) and the Mets bats deliver 3+ runs versus Arroyo and the Mets win the series. Final score: 5-2.
Then the Mets have a day off before starting a three-game set versus the Braves Friday night.
