Game 28 Unhappy Recap

And Orlando Cabrera hits a walk-off home run off Pedro Feliciano in the bottom of the 10th inning, and the Mets lose the game and another series. 2-4 road trip. Mets lose the game 5-4.

Here are some things from the game:
  • D Wright hit his 2nd home run of the series, and the 7th of the season
  • H Takahashi pitched 3 scoreless innings in relief of J Niese, striking out 4.
  • Pedro Feliaciano pitched for the 4th straight game, but then again maybe it doesn't count in Jerry Manuel's mind because it was only to one hitter.
    • Jerry Manuel, you are terrible at managing a bullpen
    • At least F Nieve didn't pitch today; yes that is newsworthy any time he doesn't pitch
  • Jerry Manuel, please explain to me why you double switched David Wright out of the game??
    • Isn't David Wright your best offensive player?
  • Jason Bay was 0-12 for the series, and J Reyes was 0-5 today.
Mets have an off day tomorrow, come home to face the Giants and two good pitchers (J Sanchez and Tiny Tim "The Freak" Lincecum).  Going to be tough to win the series, but the Mets need to.

  1. 2-4 after 8 in row is not acceptable. It shows exactly why the Mets are a step behind a team like the Phillies. Good teams find a way to go 3-3 or 4-2 on a 6 game roadie. The day off will provide some much needed rest for guys (and they will need it--think they have 17 in a row coming up). The Giants pitch well and are always tough, but the Mets need to win a series and get some momentum. But if Bay is going to go 0-15 and Reyes is going to be hitless, they have no shot. And why isn't Reyes back in the leadoff spot? Reyes, Pagan, Wright, Bay, Davis, Francouer, Castillo, the catcher, pitcher. Reyes and Bay cannot be together right now with how they are hitting.

At least they are still worth watching. And give them some credit--they did come back in the 9th 2 games in a row. Now they have to finish.

  2. It's sad that this is what the Mets have become, "at least they are still worth watching." It's May 6th. If they were mathematically eliminated already that would be hard to do.

I understand they are only 1 1/2 games out of first place, but when you have a manager making bonehead decisions daily, and the general manager is not constructing the best team/bench, fans have the right to get upset.
