I'm not sure what happened, but JJ Putz is claiming he knew he had bone spurs in his elbow before he was traded to the Mets, but he didn't really have a physical, and was told by the Mets to not talk about the injury to reporters.

Garko for less than a million to Seattle. Typical Mets. But Garko is not rebuilding a church in his home country so why sign him? Putz now says he had the injury before and the Mets knew. Well that doesn't surprise me. It is the same old story. A few years ago it was the allegations of pot smoking in the clubhouse. Before that, a journeyman reliever (name escapes me right now) went on th record saying the Mets is where you get paid, and then when you leave, you can win (or something like that).
ReplyDeleteI just know the atmosphere around the Mets (perceived by me as a fan at least) to be that of malaise and a team that is a "losing" franchise. Where is the culture of winning? Where is the perception of strong organized business with a solid year-to-year plan? It may be there, but it sure doesn't feel like it is.
I know winning changes everything and if the Mets win, this all goes away, but that bad taste remains for me...
Mets have to battle...
